Carleton “Carl” Richardson, 88

WAREHAM – Carleton “Carl” Richardson, 88, of Sagamore Beach, died Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at his summer home in Wareham after a long illness. He was the husband of Carol K. (Ladd) Richardson. They were married for 66 years.

Born in Quincy, he was the son of the late Carleton and Ruth (Jones) Richardson. He previously lived in Randolph until he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was stationed on the weather cutter USCGC Cook Inlet (WAVP-384) for 4 years.

Mr. Richardson founded ABC Testing Inc. of Bridgewater, a non-destructive testing business and is still in operation by the Richardson family. He was active in the AWS (American Welding Society), and the ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing). Mr. Richardson was also a youth hockey coach in Bridgewater, a cub scout leader and was well known in the family for his ability to repair anything. He enjoyed fishing, the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Richardson; his children, Bruce Richardson and his wife Marybeth of Middleboro, and Robin Bevilacqua and her husband Mark of Buzzards Bay; five grandchildren, Patrick and Emily Richardson, Matthew, Brian and Joshua Bevilacqua; and three great grandchildren, Alice and Cameron Bevilacqua and Cora Richardson.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 10 to 11:45 AM. A funeral service will follow at 12 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
