Cooling center to open to beat the heat

The Wareham Emergency Management is opening a cooling center on Tuesday, June 24 for the extreme heat in the forecast.

The Multi-Service Center at 54 Marion Road will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on the first floor. Water bottles will be available to those in need.

The National Weather Service projects a sunny and hot day with a high near 98 degrees. The heat index, or how the weather feels, is valued as high as 106 degrees.
