No time for meal prep? No problem says Cyd Ryle.

Fast, fresh and flavorful meals are now being delivered directly to hundreds of South Coast residents, dished out of the newly-opened Cyd’s Grab & Go in Wareham. Ryle, of Fairhaven, joined the burgeoning meal delivery business five years ago after a trial run with New Bedford’s Meal on Wheels program.

Thanks to a grant, Ryle, who has operated Cyd’s Creative Kitchen in New Bedford for 14 years, served meals to 20 seniors for an eight-week period. Afterwards, she decided to offer a similar service, delivering meals from the restaurant.

The response was immediate.

“We received 100 orders within the first seven minutes of our advertisement going online,” said Ryle.

Now with business continuing to grow, Ryle has expanded and found a commercial kitchen in Wareham to prepare meals for delivery.

“We just didn’t have enough space in the New Bedford restaurant,” she said. “Here we have all the room we need.”

The meals, which now number roughly 200 a week, are delivered to doctors, lawyers, office workers, teachers and a variety of others who want home cooked meals without the fuss, said Ryle. She noted several customers who live out of state, even out of the country, order meals for older parents living in the area.

Meals include an entree, starch and vegetable, packed and ready for heating or freezing. Among some of the items on the menu for this week were peach sausage baked pancake, baked fish, spinach stuffed chicken and chicken pie, one of Ryle’s specialties.

For Ryle, a former rural letter carrier, getting her own kitchen was a dream come true. While still working for the postal service, she attended classes at Johnson & Wales University. After earning her degree she opened Cyd’s Creative Kitchen and has been cooking ever since.

In addition to meal deliveries, the business is offering grab and go options. Sandwiches, soup and baked goods are all available for pick up in the store.
