David Allen Washburn, 62

Oct 8, 2020

David Allen Washburn, 62, passed away on October 6, 2020, surrounded by his family. David was born on December 1, 1957, in Providence, Rhode Island. If you asked people who David Washburn was, they would all tell you a different story. They'd say a supportive dad, a fun grandfather, a caring husband, a hard-working employee, a loving son, and a brother or a devoted friend. All of which is true.

David graduated from Toll Gate High School in 1975 and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1979 with a BS in Chemical Engineering. His lifelong career allowed him to travel to numerous states and places abroad. His significant accomplishments included becoming an Engineering Manager in Maryland, a Director of Operations in South Korea, a Managing Director in Singapore, and a Director of Europe and Asia Operations in Brussels, Belgium. David ended his lifelong career by becoming the owner and president of Washburn Consulting LLC, where he worked as a contractor for SABIC/GE.

Besides his career, David enjoyed many other things such as playing basketball, listening to music, watching his favorite sports teams, grilling his "Gaga" burgers and steaks, cooking his signature dishes, cold beer, and, most importantly, spending time with his grandkids, family, and friends. David took fashion cues from no one. His signature everyday look was a flannel with one of his favorite t-shirts.

David lived his life to the fullest. No matter the task, he always gave his full attention. He accomplished anything and everything he set his mind to. David was never one to boast. He went on quietly, working for the ones he loved the most. The way he died was the way he lived. Writing his own rules and paving his way.

David is preceded in death by his father, Edward Allen Washburn. He is survived by his wife, Francesca La Rosa; his daughters, Nicole Gill and husband David, Kristen Clark and husband Robert, Jennifer Washburn and Emanuela Celili; his grandchildren, Kyle, Jameson, Kayden, Jaxson, Khloe, Kaleb, Julian, Jolie, and Jacob; his mother, Shirley Washburn; his sister, Jean Correia; his brother Paul Washburn and wife Glenda; and his three nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 5 – 8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham at 10 AM.  Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Marion.
