A delivery driver was hospitalized after he drove down a dead end road, hit a trailer and continued into the woods on Friday, July 26. 

The driver, identified as Josh Medina, is an Amazon employee who was scheduled to deliver packages when the truck crashed on North Carver Road. Medina’s town of residence is not yet known.

According to Wareham Fire Captain Chip DeBlois, there were over 75 feet of skid marks on the road. This means that the truck could have been going “like 90 miles an hour” before it crashed, he said. 

DeBlois said that the driver might have suffered a medical emergency, explaining the speed of the vehicle. 

When first responders pulled Medina from the vehicle, he did not appear physically injured. He walked to a fire engine on scene and was evaluated by first responders. 

According to DeBlois, Medina was transported to a hospital for further evaluation. It is unclear which hospital Medina was taken to.

Tina Rossetti, a resident of North Carver Road, said that she saw the truck go by before it crashed. 

“I saw him fly by,” she said. “A second later I heard a big crash.”

After seeing the Penske truck in the woods, Rossetti checked on the driver and called the police. There, she said she found Medina conscious, but “dazed.” 

“He was going so fast, beyond fast,” Rosetti said.

According to Rossetti, Medina appeared unhurt and called his family before first responders arrived. 

First responders weren’t the only ones to arrive on the scene.

Alongside them were a group of Amazon employees.

According to Amazon employee Genesis Ortiz, they arrived to deliver the rest of Medina’s orders for the day.
