First ever Daniel Taber Memorial Golf Tournament to be held July 8

Jun 15, 2017

A new charitable golf tournament is being launched in memory of Daniel Taber, a Wareham man who passed away last year. Golfers and sponsors are being sought for the first ever Daniel Taber Memorial Golf Tournament, scheduled for Saturday, July 8, at the Little Harbor Country Club. Shotgun start is at 8 a.m.

Entry fee is $75 per player. The fee includes greens fees, dinner, a T-shirt and prizes. For dinner only tickets cost $40. Applications and fees are due by June 28.

According to a press release, Taber was born and raised in Wareham and spent most of his life living in the town he loved. Growing up, he forged many loyal and lifelong friendships through his participation in youth sports including hockey and baseball.

At Wareham High School, he was a member of the golf team. He spent the majority of his life as an employee at the Little Harbor Country Club.

Organizers said they plan to make the an event an annual one. Each year, the golf tournament will raise money to help a local organization or a family or a friend in need.

This year, the tournament will raise money for the Wareham Library Foundation and Wareham Middle School CARE Program’s YES/Builders Club. The middle school program discreetly provides students in need with a weekend supply of food every Friday afternoon. This program is completely run by volunteers including Middle School students.
