Flags at half-staff honor fallen Wareham naval officer

Aug 29, 2024

It’s not uncommon to see the American flag flown at half-staff as a sign of honor. On Thursday, Aug. 29, flags across Massachusetts were lowered in honor of a Wareham resident, Kyle Thomas Duffy.

Duffy, 23, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 23. He was a Petty Officer Third Class in the United States Navy, and he passed away while stationed at Naval Base Guam.

Duffy was a graduate of Wareham High School, class of 2020, and leaves behind his parents, Andrew and Lori Duffy of Wareham, his wife, Diosa Glaze Duffy of Barrigada, Guam, and a loving family.

Gov. Maura Healey ordered that the United States Flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Flag be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, Aug. 29 in Duffy’s honor.
