Helen M. (Ferguson) Lyons, 90, of Wareham, passed away peacefully Oct. 30 at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Buzzards Bay after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of the late Charles W. Lyons who was the love of her life.
She was born in Worcester and lived in Dorchester for many years before moving to Wareham in 1970.
Mrs. Lyons enjoyed going to Foxwoods, playing Bingo, traveling and crocheting. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting many family gatherings over the years. She loved her family and spent many years caring for her grandchildren as well as being a caregiver for her father-in-law.
Her family is forever grateful to the staff at Royal Cape Cod Nursing Home and Fidelis Hospice for the exceptional and loving care given to Helen.
Survivors include her children, Carol Imbornone of South Weymouth, Michael Lyons and his wife Holly of Mashpee, Nancy Barry and her husband Robert of Onset and Kathy Atkinson and her husband Paul of Wareham; her brother, Jack Bain and his wife, Ann of Cumberland, RI; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Visiting hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Her funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4th, 2013 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham.
Burial will be at 11:00 a.m.. on Tuesday, Nov. 5th at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
