Hold your horses! Is that a new cafe in Onset?
Offering coffee, refreshers and dirty sodas, there's a cafe slotted to open in the Onset neigh-borhood.
Frothy Bit has been working to open its first physical cafe location at 205 Onset Avenue. The businesses got its start in 2023 touring equestrian shows across the East Coast in horse trailers-turned cafe carts.
Owners Alex Darzenta and Benjamin Ellison said they stumbled upon the storefront in Onset and got the idea to create a physical shop. Darzenta said that her love for horses and her area ties led her to the spot on the bay.
"I grew up in Sandwich on the cape," she said. "The beach is near and dear to my heart and we found a great location there. We know it's a very warm and fun town— especially when the summertime hits."
The menu is more expansive than the horse trailers as the physical location can fit espresso machines. The shop will be "like an ice cream walk-up window service" and offers caffeinated and non-caffeinated beverages with an array of flavors.
Guests can expect horse-themed aspects including drink names and photos of Darzenta riding her horses on Cape Cod beaches. She said patrons can expect coffee that's "not going to be tasted in any other shop," around town.
"We want to bring amazing customer service and a happy place that people can walk right up, see all of us and build a relationships," Darzenta said.
There is no current opening date as the pair work with the town to acquire proper permits and permissions. As everything is ready to go for operation, Darzenta said the cafe could be "open by tomorrow."
