Marie T. (Fernandes) Amado, 96
ONSET –Marie T. (Fernandes) Amado, 96, of Onset, passed away on August 11, 2026, surrounded by her children at her home. She was the wife of the late Manuel S. Amado, Sr. and the daughter of the late Jack and Evinas (Nunes) Fernandes.
She was born in Wareham and lived in Onset her whole life. She attended Wareham schools.
Mrs. Amado worked as a CNA for Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Buzzards Bay for many years before retiring.
She also served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Dudley L. Brown VFW Post 2846 in Onset.
She was a self-taught and talented piano player. She also enjoyed the art of making ceramics. Most of all, she was the world’s greatest mother!
Survivors include her children, Sheila Pocknett of Wareham, Toni Santos of East Wareham, Nikki Oliveira of Cataumet, Mary Lou Amado-Pires of Marion, Mark Amado of San Diego, CA, Tracy Amado of East Wareham, Carla Johnson of New Bedford, Myrna Amado of Onset, and Keith Amado of Palm Springs, CA; her brother, Robert Fernandes of Harwich.
She was the mother of the late Ceasar Almeida, Joseph Almeida, Linda Gomes, Manuel Amado, Jr. Grandmother of the late Reinaldo Oliveira, III, Ashley Amado, David Amado, and Julio Frye. Sister of the late Manuel Fernandes, Roger Fernandes, Leroy Fernandes, Gayle (Fernandes) Brown, Betsy (Fernandes) Carr and Lizzy Fernandes.
She was also blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Visiting hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 94 High St., Wareham.
Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.
