Holistic Psychic Fair set for Nov. 2

Oct 28, 2019

Vendors, healers, and readers will fill the Elks Lodge on Saturday, Nov. 2., during the First Spiritualist Church's biannual Holistic Psychic Fair.

For the last 18 years, church members have organized the fair, which serves as their major fundraiser. The nondenominational church was founded in 1903. Members believe there is life after death and that the living can communicate with the dead through mediums.

The fair will begin at 10 a.m. and will feature twenty-five certified mediums, readers, and healers from across the South Coast in addition to twenty traditional craft vendors. It will last until 5 p.m. and is open to the public with a $2 entrance fee. A fifteen minute psychic reading costs $20.

“We refuse any negative thoughts. Ninety-five percent of visitors come out from the fair with a positive feeling,” said the church’s treasurer, Larry Becker. “It’s a very positive day.”

Mediums selected for the fair have completed up to three years of the church’s mediumship training classes, where they learn the history of spiritualism and how to create a sacred safe space for spirit communication.

The Church hosts two fairs each year: one in April and one in November.

“We use these events to prove our belief in the continuation of life and give people the opportunity to communicate with their loved ones,” said Pastor Rev. Kathleen Hoffman.

The church uses funds from the fair to provide educational classes and workshops about spiritualism, which are open to the public, and support charitable agencies in Wareham.

The First Spiritual Church is located on 17 Highland Ave. in Onset and holds Sunday services from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit www.church1.org or call 774-454-3985.
