The Lady Vikings continued their winning streak Friday night. The undefeated varsity girls basketball team brought their record to 10-0 after they beat their South Coast Conference rival, the Fairhaven Blue Devils, with a score of 52-47.

“Defense,” Coach Robert Rojik said is what won the game for the girls. The Blue Devils, who also came into Friday’s game undefeated in their league, put up a tough fight for the top spot.

Wareham took an early lead, ending the first quarter with a score of 28-20. Senior Kira Correia was the first player to put numbers on the board.  Alexis Silva and Alana Watkins also showed off their defensive skills, both were among the team's highest-scoring players.

At the end of the half, the Vikings maintained a modest lead of 35-30. Wareham never gave up the lead. The team went on to win the game, guaranteeing them a spot at this year’s tournament.

“It was the biggest team effort of the year,” Rojik touted. “We’re going all the way this year.”

The ladies will try to keep the streak going on Monday Jan. 17 when they play Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School at home.
