Letter to the Editor: Thank you Wareham Police
Last Saturday, June 14th, Wareham and the surrounding communities joined millions of people across the country engaged in peaceful protest to voice the urgent concern of authoritarian measures being enacted by our President and his party. Approximately 450 supporters from the area stretched out along both sides of Marion Road in front of Town Hall participating in the No Kings Day of Protest.
We are writing today to call attention not only to the huge success of the turnout but also to call out the exemplary efforts of the Wareham Police Department. Under Chief Correia's leadership, officers were visible and available to assist with a smooth traffic and pedestrian flow and to ensure our right to peaceful demonstrations against the actions of our government. Their proactive, community-responsive approach was in and of itself a testament to the right to protest.
We both received many comments on the WPD presence and the professionalism shown by the officers.
Thank you, Wareham Police Department!
Sincerely,
Maryanne Kirkbride, Wareham for Law and Democracy
