A man was arrested for alleged heroin trafficking after trying to evade police early Sunday morning, according to the Wareham Police Department.

Police said officers responded to a reported disturbance at Glen Charlie Road at about 1 a.m. Sunday. On the way to the scene, police were told that a man involved in the incident was driving erratically down Glen Charlie Road, without headlights. When Officer Stephen Kearney tried to stop the car, the driver accelerated, in an attempt to elude the officers, before stopping on a dead end road off Spectacle Pond Road.

Police said officers Kearney and Robert McClain confronted the driver, Scott Peacock, 25, of Centerville, who attempted to throw a plastic bag from the driver’s side window, and dropped two syringes, while getting out of the car. The officers discovered three corner cut plastic baggies, containing 22 grams of suspected heroin, and another syringe.

Peacock was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin, failure to stop for police, and other motor vehicle violations. He was scheduled to be arraigned at the Wareham District Court Monday, June 8.
