Man killed at industrial plant identified

The man killed by a tractor trailer in Wareham last week has been identified as 56-year-old Arsenio Da Cruz Pina. He worked as a custodian at the Chatham Village Foods plant where he was killed.

Pina's daughter, Marie, said that investigators have not yet released the man’s body due to the ongoing investigation.

His other daughter, Odette, posted a GoFundMe page on Tuesday, Aug. 10. “My siblings and I are still trying to process the fact that our father went to work and never came back home. He was a hardworking and loving man who did everything he could for his children and his family,” she wrote in the post.

Pina was killed on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at a Chatham Village Foods plant on Kendrick Road after a tractor trailer pinned him in a loading dock. Wareham police officers, fire fighters and EMTs arrived at the plant shortly after 9:43 a.m. Pina was pronounced dead at 9:54 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation by the Wareham Police Department and Massachusetts State Police detectives with the Plymouth County Attorney’s Office.
