Marjorie F. Gardner, 83, Meals on Wheels site director

Marjorie Florence Gardner, 83, of Wareham died March 31 at Kindred Transitional Care in Wareham.

She was the daughter of the late A. Irving and Betty (Chamberlain) Wilder. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Wendell Clayton Gardner, and her son, Robert.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Ruth and brother-in-law Elliot; her niece Kathy and husband Ron; their daughter Amanda and nephew Andrew. Her daughters, Lynne and son-in-law Thomas, Nanci, Patti, and Jackie; her sons; Barry, Bruce and daughter-in-law Mary, Thomas and Timothy. Her grandchildren; Michael, Alia, Jeremy, Robert and wife Barb, Christopher and wife Lauren, Ashley, Bruce Jr., Chelsea, Albert, Rachael, Rose, Ryan, Shane, Hannah, Jacob, James and great-grandchildren Tyler, Katelyn, Ethan, Keagan, Ava, Nora.

Active in many fellowships over the course of her life, she was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Kingston.

Marge worked as site director for the Old Colony Elder Services Meals on Wheels program for more than 30 years, retiring at age 80. She recently received a citation from the Wareham Board of Selectmen for her more than 20 years of service to the elderly of Wareham.

Throughout her life, her caring heart instinctively led her on a mission of continuous service to others.

Marjorie had a contagious optimism for life shown in her great sense of humor, honed by a whimsical spirit that always saw the best in everyone and everything. A loving wife and mother, her greatest enjoyment was having family gatherings and catching up with what everyone was doing.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 5 at the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene, 6 Rogers Ave., Wareham at 1 p.m. Burial will be at the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne, next to her beloved husband. Visiting hours have been omitted.
