Two simultaneous drug raids in Wareham and Bourne involving multiple police departments yielded thousands of dollars in cash and drugs, including nearly five pounds of methamphetamine in East Wareham, according to police.

Last September, Barnstable Police arrested David Landry on multiple heroin trafficking charges. Police said over the past five months, investigation into Landry and his drug trafficking organization has uncovered evidence linking several others to the operation, including Evan Lopes, 26, of Wareham; Derek Locurto, 29, of Bourne and Justin Groom, 25, of Bourne.

Police said on Thursday, Jan. 15, investigators from several different agencies executed search warrants at 304 Village Drive in Bourne and 14 Point Pleasant Circle in East Wareham.

According to police, detectives seized 2,200 grams (about 4.9 pounds) of suspected methamphetamine at the East Wareham home. Wareham Detective Bryan Whalen found the drugs buried under a large pile of firewood outside the home, said police.

According to court documents, detectives discovered that Lopes was carrying out various duties on behalf of the drug trafficking organization, such as collecting money (drug debts) owed to Landry. Lopes was most recently working as a landscaper with BJ's Lawncare and Landscaping in Sandwich.

Lopes was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine (over 200 grams). He was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail and has a probable cause hearing scheduled for Feb. 12, according to court documents. Police said the wholesale value of the methamphetamine is over $40,000 and the street value is over $200,000.

Officers seized several ounces of marijuana and more than $7,000 in cash from the Village Drive home in Bourne, according to police. Locurto will face a future charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

On Tuesday, Jan. 6, detectives raided another Bourne residence (8 Cheryl Lane) associated with the Landry investigation and discovered a hydroponic marijuana grow operation inside the home, police said.

At that time, Groom was arrested after detectives seized approximately $50,000 worth of hydroponic grow equipment, $5,500 in cash, and over $35,000 in marijuana and hash oil.

Police said Landry has been held at the Barnstable House of Correction on $150,000 bail since his arrest on Sept. 12, 2014.

Detectives from Barnstable, Falmouth, Mashpee, Barnstable Sheriff’s Office, Wareham, and Bourne, along with ATF agents participated in the cooperative multi-jurisdictional investigation.

Police said more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
