Office of Beyond School Time to host several programs
The Wareham Office of Beyond School Time has several events for children in the upcoming months.
On Thursdays and Fridays, there will be a series of Little Discoverers STEAM Playgroups. Parents and children will have hands-on opportunities to experiment and discover the world around us. Each themed session will be free of charge. Themes will include building, air, chemical reactions, colors, engineering, animals, planting, measurement, weather, life cycles, oceans, and lakes, to name a few. Fall sessions start September 26 and end on November 21. The programs will take place at the Wareham Free Public Library, 59 Marion Rd. These programs are for students age 1-6. To register, call or email the Office of Beyond School Time.
On Thursday, October 14, they’ll present “Catch the Story Bug” with storyteller Karen Chace. Travel on an imagination safari with animal tales from around the world. Registration is not required, and all families will receive a book packet with an age-appropriate book and literacy activities.
Thursdays from 11 to 11:45 a.m., children ages 0-6 can attend (with a parent or guardian) Music with Mar. The Music with Mar movement and music activities are based on brain research findings impacting cognitive, social/emotional, and gross/fine motor skills. These activities foster bonding, as well as prepare the children for skills needed for learning later in life. These events are free of charge and take place at the Wareham Free Public Library.
On the first Thursday of the month starting at 6 p.m. starting Oct. 1, there will be a Teddy Bear Storytime and Story Walk. Children are encouraged to wear pajamas and bring a stuffed animal. No registration is required, and this is an event for the entire family.
The programs are sponsored through grants to Wareham Public Schools Office of Beyond School Time from the Department of Early Education and Care.
