Regina Maria Lopes
FAIRHAVEN - Regina Maria Lopes, beloved sister and aunt, teacher and concert pianist, is now at home with the Lord, having peacefully passed away on November 14, 2025 at the Royal Fairhaven, where she received excellent care.
Regina was an amazing woman who doted on her family, caring for her parents and siblings, hosting family events, and creating exquisite dresses for her nieces. She graduated from Wareham HS, Boston University and Eastman School of Music and taught at schools and universities in NY, NJ and MA.
Named 2008 Freetown Woman of the Year, her Apponequet students admired her as the "nicest lady in the world" and "amazingly talented pianist". Regina toured Europe, playing for the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna State Opera Orchestra and presented concerts at the Wareham Portuguese-American Association and Fitchburg-Wachusett Chorale.
Preceded in death by parents Joseph and Mary Lopes; brothers Peter and James Lopes; survived by brother Colonel Francis (Alma) Lopes, sisters Margaret Ferree, and Jane (L. Steven) Crocker; in-laws Patricia and Judy Lopes, 14 nephews and nieces (especially Janet Ferree Reynolds) who lovingly cared for her), and many other loving relatives and friends.
