Rep. Gifford appointed to legislative committees

Jan 31, 2011

State Representative Susan Williams Gifford (R-Wareham) has been appointed to three legislative committees.

Gifford, who was re-elected for her fifth consecutive term last November, will again serve as the ranking member on the Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources & Agriculture. In addition to this, Rep. Gifford will also serve on the Joint Committee on Healthcare Financing and the House Committee on Steering, Policy and Scheduling.

“I’m honored that I will be able to continue working on matters concerning the environment and agriculture as well as healthcare, which are of vital interest to my District,” said Gifford. “In addition, being re-appointed to the House Committee on Steering, Policy and Scheduling this session will allow me to have greater input and information on the movement of bills through the legislative process.”

House Minority Leader Brad Jones (R-North Reading) said he is thrilled to have Gifford as a member of the house and the Republican caucus.

"I know she is eager to continue with the legislative process, and I am confident that her wealth of experience and knowledge will be invaluable assets to these important committees," Jones said.

The Second Plymouth District is comprised of Carver, Wareham, and precincts one, two, and three of Bourne. Those interested in more information on these committee assignments are encouraged to contact Gifford’s office.
