Robert A. Sanford, 35, of New Bedford, died Sunday, June 14, 2020 after a long illness.

Born in Falmouth, he was the son of Shirelle Sanford-Silva and stepson of Kenneth Silva both of New Bedford. Robert graduated from Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in 2004 and attended Cape Cod Community College.

Robert was a civilian mechanic for the Mass. Military Division at Joint Base Cape Cod. He was also currently serving in the Massachusetts National Guard. Robert enjoyed basketball and was a former coach for the Wareham JBA.

Survivors include his mother and step-father; his daughters, Sianna Sanford of Wareham, Rylie Sanford and Summer Sanford both of New Bedford; his brothers, Darrell Readus of New Bedford and Justin Mendes of Wareham; his maternal grandparents, Vivian and Paul Monteiro of New Bedford; his step-brother Troy Rocha, Jr. of  New Bedford; his step-sister, Jasmine Silva of Plymouth; his uncle, Raymond “Butchie” Sanford, Jr. of Falmouth; his aunts, Paula Sanford and Deanna Monteiro both of New Bedford, and his “brothers from another mother”, Matt Mears, Jeremy Packard, John Lisbon and Tarik Andrade.

Funeral services and burial will be private.
