Salerno's raises $1,000 for the American Heart Assoication

Mar 4, 2011

On Friday, March 4, the American Heart Association was presented with a check for $1,050 from Salerno's Seaside Function Hall, located at 196 Onset Ave. in Onset Village.

The money was raised during a “Chuckles 4 Charity 2011" event the restaurant held on February 18. This is the second year Salerno's has helped raise money for the AHA during February, which is American Heart Health month. The event featured live music and entertainment from comedians, including Chris Tabb, who volunteers for the AHA and helped organize the fundraiser.

"He was a great liaison," said Nikki Burnett, the Regional Vice President of Health Equity for the AHA.  "You have to meet people where they are to enact change and this is a great way to do that. It's a nice night that brings people together for a good cause."

The proceeds raised during the comedy night will benefit the American Heart and Stroke Association locally, noted Burnett. "Everything raised in the area, stays in the area," she said. The money will go to fund better health access, advocacy, and youth programs.
