Televised fundraiser seeking a cause to support
Wareham Community TV and Buzzards Play Productions are seeking a cause for their annual live, televised fundraiser, Applause for a Cause.
The event is an evening of live entertainment while soliciting in house and call-in donations for a non-profit group identified by WCTV members.
The idea behind the event is to provide a local organization increased community awareness and to raise funds while showcasing area talent. Last year, the event raised more than $8,000 for the local homeless prevention non-profit Turning Point.
The live event will be on March 6 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Buzzards Play Productions, 3065 Cranberry Highway.
Each WCTV member in good standing as of Dec. 15, 2014 may submit a Cause (501c3 or a current group or organization raising funds for a community project).
To qualify to be on the "Cause Pool," the following pieces of information are required:
- Cause name
- Contact name
- Contact phone and email
If the Cause is not a 501c3, a website, Facebook page, and/or document providing a brief description including purpose/mission statement are required with the submission.
Information must be submitted to applause@warehamtv.org by Jan. 26.
Members' submissions go into a Cause Pool with a winning slip to be pulled on Feb. 2nd.
The Cause must be available on March 6 from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and the a minimum of five people from the Cause must be present for duration of event.
If you are not directly affiliated with the Cause, you must contact the group before submission to determine interest and ability to commit time and volunteers for the event.
The Cause is responsible for donation bookkeeping. If the Cause does not have a checking account, Rose Berry at the Main Street Eastern Bank can set up a free account.
