Kicking off the Wareham Free Library's Fall Concert Series is a duo who got their musical beginnings close by in Vermont.
Join Hungrytown's Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Wareham Free Library at 59 Marion Road.
Hungrytown's music has received extensive radio airplay worldwide and has appeared on several television shows, including "The Daily Show" and "Portlandia."
The folk band spends half their year on the road and invite guests to hear their tunes is free and no registration is required. Doors to the show will open at 6:30 p.m.

Trunks full of treats
Don costumes and get bags ready for a family friendly afternoon.
The Ashley Faye Foundation and JKA Memorial Scholarship Foundation will be hosting a trunk or treat Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Dudley Brown VFW at 4 Gibbs Ball Park Road from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for ages 12 and under.
Alongside decorated cars and trunks, a costume parade will be held for different age groups with 2 to 4-year-olds, 5 to 7-year-olds and 8 to 12-year-olds.

Happy as a clam
The Redmen Hall will be holding its fall old fashioned New England clam boil Saturday, Oct. 18 at 745 Main Street with doors opening at 1 p.m. and food served at 2 p.m.
Advanced sales are required with tickets $40 each. Call 508-291-0882 and leave message or come down to the club Mondays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to pick up tickets.
Nothing but net
Head down to the Gleason Family YMCA for the Wareham-New Bedford Elks Lodge annual hoop shoot competition for kids age 8 to 13.
The competition will be held Saturday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the YMCA, 33 Charge Pond Road.
Entry is free and trophies will be awarded. Winners will move onto the district elks lodge hoop shoot competition with a chance to compete in the state and national competitions.

Blast from the past
A blast from the past could mean cash in patrons pockets.
The Onset Historical Society will be holding a Collectors and Sellers event on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Onset VFW, 1 Gibbs Ball Park Road.
Any sellers looking to sell Onset postcards and collectibles are welcome. Updates to the progress of the historical society will be given with Mrs. Marie Strawn speaking about the history of Onset.

Talkin' berries
Bring cran-do attitudes to the historical society.
Mack Phinney will be speaking at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 for the Wareham Historical Society meeting held in the Methodist Meeting House at 495 Main Street.
Phinney will be presenting the "Disappearing Screen House," and cranberry harvesting. Those attending are invited to share memories of cranberry harvests and enjoy refreshments after the program.
Historical Society members can attend for free, non-members are $2.00.
