Residents in the Point Independence and Onset Heights areas are being urged to call the Wareham Police Department regarding the possible identification of stolen items after the arrest of two men early on Monday.

Police arrested Michael Thompson, 26, and Matthew Dillion Murdock, 30, for breaking and entering, and stealing property from a vehicle on Monday at 3 a.m.

The two men fled from a vehicle on Locust Street as its owner approached. The owner saw the interior light of his vehicle on and proceeded to chase the two men on foot. They were headed toward Onset Avenue when Wareham Police arrived.

In addition to breaking and entering into a motor vehicle and larceny under $250 charges, Thompson was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a previous breaking and entering into a motor vehicle incident that occurred weeks ago. Dillon-Murdock was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by Braintree District Court in 2007, according to police.

During the arrest, the men had several items that have yet to be accounted for, and residents in the Point Independence area, in particular the Onset Heights area who may have noticed items missing from their vehicles are asked to call detectives at 508-295-1206 to identify the items.
