Two Wareham residents were identified as the people killed in a car crash on I-495 in Middleboro Thursday, May 15.

The victims, Cecil Johnson, 70 and Rosemarie Dias, 68, were identified by the Plymouth County District Attorney the day after the crash. Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

At approximately 12:28 p.m. on Thursday, Middleboro Fire Department responded to reports of a serious crash on I-495 northbound in Middleboro. When crews arrived the car was in a wooded area engulfed in flames.

Middleboro Fire Chief Owen Thompson said crews worked swiftly to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
