Upcoming Cranberry Coast Concerts events
Cranberry Coast Concerts is in full swing. Festival directors Kirk Whipple and Marilyn Morales, a husband and wife duo piano team, are back from their concert tours of Florida, Louisiana, and France and have prepared a diverse season of summer concerts.
The regional music festival, whose motto is “From Bach to Rock” will present local, national, and international touring concert artists in a wide variety of performance environments.
On Friday, July 29, rising stars from the community will be featured in Cranberry Coast Concerts’ Annual “Outstanding Young Artists Concert.” Featured will be Jessica Schloesser and local pianist, vocalist and flautist Eric Balboni. This performance is free to the community. All donations will accepted in benefit of the festival. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. at Eastern Bank, located at 226 Main Street.
On Wednesday, August 3, Cranberry Coast Concerts will present “Spectacular Night – It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing!” The concert will feature songs and instrumentals from old favorites to modern swing classics served up hot with a healthy dash of comedy! The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church, located at 339 Onset Avenue.
On Friday, August 12, San Francisco Bay Area Playwright, Singer, Pianist and Composer Katie Ketchum will star in her highly-acclaimed original one-woman musical “Impressions of Mary Cassatt,” about the famous painter. Onset legend Josie Thoms offers an original oil painting in Cassatt’s style, which will be part of the show. The show begins at 7:00 p.m. at Eastern Bank, located at 226 Main Street.
On Friday, August 19, tenor and actor Mike Duarte will perform d “Fly Me to the Moon ~ An Evening with Frank Sinatra.” Duarte will also share some stories from the very large life of “Old Blue Eyes.” When Duarte is not singing or acting, he is a set designer at Dean College in Franklin and the MMAS Blackbox Theater in Mansfield. The show begins at 7:00 p.m. at Eastern Bank, located at 226 Main Street.
On Friday, August 26, concert Pianist Rorianne Schrade returns to the concert series to celebrate the bicentennial of Franz Liszt. Her program will be completely comprised of works by the legendary romantic pianist and composer. She is scheduled to perform this same program at Carnegie Hall in New York City in the fall. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. at Eastern Bank, located at 226 Main Street.
On Friday, September 16, the series will conclude for the season. The Season finale is a performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Duo pianists Whipple & Morales perform Beethoven’s ultimate symphonic masterpiece at the piano and are joined by the Cranberry Coast Concerts Chorale: Michael Duarte, Steven King, Cathy Portlock, Jessica Schloesser, Steve Tinkham and Linda Westgate. Donations to the festival will be accepted at this final performance of Season 6.The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. at Eastern Bank, located at 226 Main Street.
Tickets are available at the door 30 minutes before each concert. Ticket prices are $20 for general admission and $18 for seniors and students. Children ages 5 to 17 are free with a paid adult.
