In the first round of the high school state volleyball tournament, Wareham High School defeated Bristol County Agricultural School 3 to 0.

The game was played at the Wareham High School gymnasium Monday, Nov. 4 and after a strong regular season, Head Coach Allyson Collette said she is glad her team was able to continue their success into the playoffs.

"The last two years we've lost in the first round of the playoffs so it's nice to be able to go past that and go a little farther than we have the last few years," said Collette.

The Vikings finished a historic regular season with a record of 18 wins and 2 losses giving them the ninth seed in the state tournament. Junior Olivia Lacava reached 1,000 career assists, a mark that has never been reached before at Wareham High School.

Collette explained the team has worked hard all season to get to this point and despite having some time off in between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs, the team continued to work hard.

"We've had two weeks with no games so that was a hard stretch of time," said Collette. "We had to practice without having much of a reward but the girls came in every day and worked hard."

Moving forward, Collette said she isn't sure when the next game is but she believes it could be in Wareham which could give her team the advantage.

"It's way better to play at home so I think we have a really good chance in that next game," said Collette.
