Wareham Fire Department welcomes three new call firefighters

Nov 2, 2021

Three Wareham Fire Department recruits graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy this week.

Kyle Geggatt, Lisa Pratt and Devin Silva were among 30 graduates from the Call/Volunteer Recruit Firefighter Training Program who received their certificates of completion on Monday night.

Program graduates complete 240 hours of training on nights and weekends, learning about things like the latest science of fire behavior, fire suppression tactics, public fire education, hazardous material incident mitigation, flammable liquids, stress management and self-rescue techniques.

“First responders are on the front lines of any crisis and these newest firefighters are needed now more than ever,” said Deputy State Fire Marshal Fournier, who is the acting MFA director. “The rigorous training they’ve completed provides them with the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to protect their communities safely and effectively.”

The Wareham Fire Department congratulated and praised its graduates.

“[Recruits] attended and trained on multiple live fires at the academy in Stow to learn to be the best firefighters they could be,” the department said. “Tonight, they are now officially call firefighters for the Wareham Fire Department!”
