Wareham Land Trust leads kiosk construction

Jul 26, 2022

If you spot brand-new wooden kiosks at nature trails around town, you’ve seen the recent work of the Wareham Land Trust and a group of helpful volunteers.

The trust has led several volunteer days in recent weeks, offering locals a chance to help build trail kiosks for public-accessible sites around Wareham. Volunteers helped dig holes, set up posts and build stands for the trust.

The kiosks will feature updated trail maps, upcoming programs and flyers from the land trust under a sheet of Plexiglas, TerraCorps member Jenna Shea said on Tuesday. Shea was leading Tuesday’s construction of a kiosk at the Tweedy and Barnes preserve. The trust constructed one kiosk at the Agawam River Trail on July 20, and it has plans for a kiosk construction day at North Water Street Beach at a later date.

Funding for the kiosk material came from the Community Events Committee, Shea said.
