Wareham Police thwart alleged shoplifting at Target
Two Hyannis men are in custody after allegedly attempting to shoplift $2,000 worth of merchandise from Target with a stolen car.
Geoffrey Curran, 21, and Michael James, 43, both of Hyannis, were arrested on Dec. 14 and charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle. Both were scheduled to be arraigned in Wareham District Court on Thursday morning.
At around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Wareham Police responded to Target at Wareham Crossing after receiving a report of two men possibly shoplifting.
Upon arrival, officers located one of the men inside the store and the second man in a car parked in the lot. During their investigation, officers discovered the car used by the suspects had been reported stolen in Hyannis.
Police said store surveillance footage is being reviewed for possible evidence related to the shoplifting at the store. An investigation regarding the theft of merchandise is ongoing, police said.
