Wareham senior living facility nears completion

Open houses held on Saturdays, Sundays

Construction is almost complete on a new, senior-living facility and those wanting to learn more are invited to a series of open houses.

Work on All American Assisted Living’s 54,000-square-foot building is ongoing with a projected April grand opening. New Jersey-based developer Kaplan Development Group LLC broke ground at the site in May 2016. When the building, which is located at the Rosebrook Plaza, is finished, it will have rooms for 112 residents.

According to the facility’s management team, All American Assisted Living will provide residents a vibrant, welcoming and affordable place to live by offering companion suites.

“Here, they have an opportunity to move into a community where it’s easy to make friends, socialize and hopefully take advantage of a number of programs that will improve their overall heath and well-being,” said Executive Director Christine Smith.

The companion suites allow two people to share a living area and bathroom while still having private bedrooms. The shared living arrangement allows All American Assisted Living to offer all-inclusive packages that are considerably less than traditional models, said Smith.

For one person living in a two-bedroom companion suite, the cost is $3,900 a month; an entire two-bedroom suite costs $7,800; and a two-bedroom companion suite in the facility’s “memory unit,” which is for patients with dementia, costs $5,600.

“With most assisted living arrangements, the price point is a bit high and often does not include care, medication assistance and other services,” said Smith. “We are unique in the sense that we include basic services within our base rate.”

That focus on community and activity is part of the company’s mission to keep seniors healthy, both physically and emotionally.

With a restaurant-style, centrally located dining area, activity rooms and a variety of wellness programs, Smith said residents have many options to get them interacting with fellow residents and staff on a daily basis.

“We found that, typically, people who come into assisted living only get 30 to 60 seconds of exercise a day,” said Community Relations Director Virginia Lehr. “We shoot for 45 minutes of exercise, three to four times a week.”

Though construction is still underway, open houses are being held Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All American Assisted Living is located at 300 Rosebrook Way.

Lehr noted that All American Assisted Living is currently hiring for open positions in Wareham. Nursing, housekeeping and more positions are available. Those interested should click here and visit the career section.
