Wareham Youth Hockey had a good weekend, with two wins and two ties. Check out the details below!
Squirts Grizzlies
The Grizzlies beat Barnstable 8-0 at Gallo Arena in Bourne on Saturday, September 21. The offense was led by Stephen Old and Matt Quinlan who scored three goals each, also known as hat tricks.
Ryker King got his first goal of the year and Luke Mello scored one goal. R.J. Vickery had three assists, and Tyler Kelly and Bailey Tieu each had an assist.
Pee Wee Predators
The Peewee Predators skated to a 3-3 tie against Somerset Watuppa Swansea in their first game of the season.
The Predators scored first with a goal from Zack Lovendale. The Predators quickly gave up the lead, and were trailing 3-1 after two periods. The Predators scored early in the third period with a goal from Tyler Lovendale.
With a little under 4 minutes left, Robert Maloney stole the puck, went down the left side, and snuck it by the goalie. Steven Strachan served as goaltender for the Predators.
Pee Wee Warriors
The Warriors pulled out a 4-1 victory over the Canal Sharks Saturday, September 21, at Gallo Ice Arena in Bourne.
Zachary Pateakos was the Warrior’s goalie and rendered the Canal Sharks scoreless during his time on the ice.
Jake DeMoranville scored his first goal of the season, with assists from Zachary Barris and Bethany Davis. Noah DeMoranville had two goals, one assisted by Barris and the other by Jake DeMoranville.
Danny Flynn got his team-leading third goal of the year, assisted by Jared Westgate.
In its second game of the weekend, the Warriors faced the Yarmouth-Dennis Dolphins, and won 5-2 Sunday, September 22, at the Hyannis Community Center.
Ben Demoranville led all scorers with two goals and an assist, while Dan Flynn and Jake Demoranville each had one goal and one assist each. Defenseman Jared Westgate also scored a goal.
Middle School
The Gateway Junior Vikings 1 Team came away with a 3-3 tie after a hard fought battle on the ice Sunday, September 22.
The Vikings got on the board with a goal from Matt Maloney goal assisted by Vittorio Consoletti and Makayla Wood, but Walpole quickly scored a goal.
In the second period, Zack Lovendale scored with assists from Jackson St Don and Wood. The team of Maloney and Consoletti proved successful once again as Consoletti scored a goal with an assist from Maloney and tied the game at 3-3.
Next, Walpole snuck one past goalie Steven Strachan as soon as he got in the net. Walpole tied the score at 4-4 in the end.
