A 23-year-old West Wareham man claims to have been shot in the arm in the vicinity of north New Bedford, according to the New Bedford Police Department.

New Bedford Public Information Officer Detective Capt. Steven Vicente said the man arrived at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford and was probably dropped off by his sister.

Vicente said the details of the shooting were unclear, however, as the man, whom he described as “not very cooperative”, was placed at his home in West Wareham within an hour of the shooting by Wareham police, who were responding to a call in the area.

Vicente said the man was treated and released quickly from the hospital.

“In and out, like a bullet,” he said.

Vicente said the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
