A Wareham woman was arrested on Friday, Feb. 5, after allegedly attempting to strike a man with an axe.

Police were called to Cromesett Avenue at about 2:30 p.m.

By the time they arrived, the woman, later identified as 53-year-old Charlene Marino, had driven away.

Officers were told that Marino had allegedly caused damage to a home and a vehicle parked in the driveway. A man, who knows Marino, said that she punched him in the face before arming herself with an axe and attempting to strike him with it. He said he was able to grab the axe from her, and Marino fled the scene.

Marino was found driving near Marion Road and Gibbs Avenue, and placed under arrest.

Marino has been charged with two counts of vandalizing property, assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery.
