Police seek information on suspects in home invasion and assault
At approximately 8:30 p.m. last night, Wednesday, June 9, 2010, Wareham Patrol Officers responded to a home invasion at # 96 Barker Rd. East Wareham.
Two residents of that address were assaulted after two males armed with handguns forced their way into the home and demanded money. A shot was fired during the incident, however, nobody was struck by the bullet.
One of the victims was injured after being hit on the head with a hard object after a scuffle with one of the intruders. The victim was transported to Tobey hospital, treated and released.
Wareham detectives were able to identify one of the suspects after gathering information from one of the victims. He was identified as 21-year-old Jacob Canedy, of Glenview Circle, East Wareham.
Canedy was located in a Wareham residence shortly after midnight by Wareham detectives, and he was placed under arrest. He was arraigned Thursday morning at Wareham 4th District Court after being held overnight at Police Headquarters.
Canedy is charged with home invasion, assault by means of a dangerous weapon (the handgun), carrying a firearm without a license to carry, discharging a firearm in a dwelling, and armed robbery.
