Everyone safe after fire at Wareham Middle School

The Wareham Fire Department is investigating a fire that it responded to at the Wareham Middle School at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9. The cause of the fire is deemed suspicious, involving a soap dispenser in the first-floor boys bathroom.

Wareham and Onset Fire, as well as Wareham EMS responded.

"There was black smoke in a bathroom, the fire department was called and the kids were evacuated," said Wareham Middle School principal Sue Anne Marks.

She said the fire department was there "in a matter of seconds," and all the kids were safely evacuated.

The students have been allowed back in the school.
