Martha Patience (LaRosee) Herring, 90

Martha Patience (LaRosee) Herring of Onset, MA died at home on April 15.

Born in Waltham, MA on April 11, 1924 to George and Angeline (Cote) LaRosee, she was a graduate of North Attleboro High School and was married in 1942 to Allen Kent Herring of North Attleboro until his death in 1986. They lived in Weston, MA from 1952 until 1969, when they moved to Shell Point, Onset, MA.

Martha worked as a Nurse at Met State and McLean Hospitals, both the Bedford and Jamaica Plain VA Hospitals, and Waltham Hospital where she helped deliver many babies.  After moving to Onset she worked at Tobey Hospital and Pocasett Hospital.

She was a member of and volunteered with numerous organizations such as Hovey Players, TOPS, AMVETS, Friends of Framingham Prison, Wareham Counseling Service and the Onset Protective League where she was named the 1999 Onset “Person of the Year."

Martha is survived by a sister Jean (LaRosee) Bonneau of Dunedin, FL; a sister-in-law Patricia (Bannon) LaRosee of Marlboro, MA; her six children: Allen Kent Herring, Jr. of Weston; John Barry Herring of Wellesley; Pamela Jean Herring of Concord, NH; Mark William Herring of Wareham; Gail Patience Herring of Onset; and Daniel Ethan Allen Herring of Newmarket, NH; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She loved all types of music, crossword puzzles, people-watching and seeing the beautiful sunsets in Sunset Cove from her home at Shell Point.  Her counsel, her laughter, and spunk will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be on Sat., April 26 at 2 p.m. at the Tabernacle of Praise, 189 Hathaway St., Wareham, MA 02571. Refreshments will follow the service.  The burial will be at a later date.
