INCORPORATION RE-ENACTMENT ON THURSDAY!

Jul 7, 2014

Hear Ye, Hear Ye. You are cordially invited to a re-enactment of the delivery of the Papers of Incorporation to the Town Officials at 2 pm on Thursday, July 10 on the steps of Town Hall. The papers will be delivered by a citizen, "Israel Fearing," riding his faithful steed. Two-hundred and seventy-five years ago, Wareham officially became a town, and the Incorporation Papers were delivered in just this way.

Hear the articles of Incorporation that made it official and learn a bit of local history. Guest speakers will speak from the steps of the Town Hall, and a musical performance is also scheduled.

There will be a special USPS Cancellation Postmark commemorating the event as well as collectible cache envelopes for only $5 available. Commemorative t-shirts and keepsake historic souvenir calendars will also be on sale. Period dress is encouraged.

After the re-enactment, stop by the Town Hall Auditorium to see the historical displays of Wareham between 3 and 4 pm. Then head out back to the athletic fields for a full schedule of music, dance and entertainment from 4-9 pm.
