Historical Society to host free information session in run-up to Town Meeting

Oct 13, 2014

The Wareham Historical Society will host a program on Monday, Oct. 20, for the public to learn about the Society's proposed article for the upcoming Wareham Fall Town Meeting.

The Historical Society is asking for a Community Preservation Act grant for the restoration of the Methodist Meeting House located at 495 Main St.

Wareham Fall Town Meeting in 2009 approved a CPA grant to the Wareham Historical Society to survey its five buildings to inspect and assess construction for signs of distress, damage and any concerns. The Historic Building Survey was completed in October 2013 by Durland and Van Voorhis Architects from Mattapoisett.

The informational meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Oct. 20 at the Methodist Meeting House. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. Town meeting will be held on Oct. 27 at the high school.
