Vikings to semi-finals in football playoffs
The Wareham Vikings sent a message Bellingham High School on Friday, beating the team 58-26, which advanced Wareham into the second round of the division playoffs.
With three touchdowns scored quickly, the Vikings led Bellingham 24-6 by the end of the first quarter.
"I think we just came out of the gate really strong," said coach Bob Lomp. "We put them in a backpedal early."
With three more touchdowns in the second quarter, the Vikings went into halftime with an insurmountable lead.
There was little celebration for Bellingham as the team scored a final touchdown in the last two minutes of the game.
It's been a couple of years since Lomp led a team toward a 50-point plus game, and funny enough, it was against Wareham while Lomp was a coach at Apponequet High School.
The Vikings' (No. 4 seed) next game is scheduled for Nov. 4 against East Bridgewater (No. 1 seed) at East Bridgewater High School. Kick off is at 7 p.m.
