Ying Dynasty opens new location in Wareham

Jan 18, 2017

Ying Dynasty has moved into Wareham, at the location of the old China Garden restaurant at 265 Marion Road.

Manager Vivian Rossi, who previously managed the China Garden, will direct the new Ying Dynasty as well.

She’s known owner Ying Zhao for years, and explains that Wareham was always a location that he intended to expand to.

“We have a lot of customers from Wareham who come into the Mattapoisett location,” she said. “They’re pretty thrilled that they don’t have to drive as far anymore.”

The menu will be the same as the menu in the other locations - Mattapoisett, New Bedford and Dartmouth. Ying Dynasty is known for producing a “New Bedford/Fall River” style chow mein, which Rossi emphasizes cannot be found elsewhere.

“The smaller Chinese places in the area, the chains - they’re from Boston and they can’t replicate the same taste,” she said.

Everything cooked at the locations is cooked to order; it isn’t pre-made and left to sit on a hot table, Rossi said.

There are tentative plans to expand the building outwards and create room for a bar, though no applications have been filed with the town yet.

The restaurant has a liquor license, but no space for a bar.

Right now, the China Garden sign still hangs over the parking lot in the Wareham location, but that should change by the end of February.

Meanwhile, the Wareham location is open for business from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
