Wareham man arrested for driving under the influence, possession of narcotics
Wareham Police arrested a 38-year-old Wareham man Thursday for driving under the influence of drugs and possession of narcotics.
On Thursday at approximately 5:30 p.m., Wareham Police Department officers Jennifer Braley and Jamie White responded to Stoney Run Drive regarding a a car accident involving a telephone pole that had been struck. Responding officers were told the man involved in the crash was attempting to walk away from the scene.
Officers arrived in the area and spoke with the man, who was identified as 38-year-old Shawn Savary of Wareham. Police said he was uninjured, but appeared confused and intoxicated, officers requested that Savary perform several sobriety tests, which he failed. Police said said Savary admited to taking drugs before the accident.
Savary was arrested and charged with OUI Drugs, then was found to be in possession of five loose and unidentified strips of suspected Suboxone. He taken to the Wareham Police Department and scheduled to appear for arraignment at Wareham District Court Friday on the following criminal charges:
- OUI Drugs
- Leaving the Scene After Causing Property Damage
- Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Class B Substance (Suboxone); Subsequent Offense
