Albert Cochrane, 84

Albert J. “Albie” Cochrane, 84, of Buzzards Bay, died July 12 at his home unexpectedly. He was the husband of the late Geraldine A. (Williams) Cochrane.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Raymond Cochrane, and Johanna (Tarpey) Finley and the brother of the late Raymond Cochrane, Jr., Edward Cochrane, Francis Cochrane, Elizabeth Turcotte, and Irene Norton. He previously lived in Norwood before moving to Buzzards Bay.

A skilled tradesman, Mr. Cochrane worked as a plasterer for many years until his retirement. After retiring, he worked for Massachusetts Maritime Academy as a shipboard cook, then as mess deck greeter on campus.

Mr. Cochrane was a patriot who loved his country and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war. He was a member of the Norwood Lodge of Elks, and enjoyed playing cards, the lottery and harness horse track racing.

Survivors include his children, Stephen Cochrane and his wife Patricia of Attleboro, Albert J. Cochrane, Jr. and his wife Liane of Mansfield, David Cochrane, and his wife Chani of Saco, Maine, Lauren Cabral, and her husband Jim of Waterboro, Maine, and Barbara Duffey and her husband Bill of Westwood; his step-children, Laura Russell of Falmouth, Susan Hennessey of East Wareham, and Paul Smith of Scotland. He hit the lottery with grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, B. Joanne McKinnon of Orleans.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, July 23, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Monday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
