Marie Monast, 93
Marie Monast, 93 of Wareham, formerly of Arlington passed away peacefully with family at her bedside on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Regina (Ledoux) Allard.
Marie was the beloved wife of 49 years to Roger A. Monast who died in 1998. She was the mother of seven children: Roger E. Monast (Linda) of Wareham, the late Kenneth J. Monast (Dianna) of Wareham, Janet Benson (Gary) of Centerville, Peter F. Monast of Forestdale, David L. Monast (Susan) of South Dennis, Donna Maynard (Chris) of Wareham, and Karen Baker (Keith) of Wareham. Marie was also survived by her 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. Aunt Kiette also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter in-law, the late Mary Monast; and her siblings, the late Viola Forte, Reginald, Andre, Bertrand, and Omer Allard.
She was foremost a mother and homemaker and enjoyed her work as a bank teller in Wareham. She was a devout Catholic who was a life-long parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Circle and dedicated her faith to the church. Marie was an avid knitter, walker, cook, card shark, and Scrabble buff. Marie enjoyed traveling and visited many destinations around the world.
The Monast family would like to offer a special thank-you to Jodie Thatcher, and the whole team at Compassionate Care who lovingly and compassionately cared for Marie in her final days.
Her funeral will be from Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, High St., Wareham at 10 AM. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting will be Monday, Sept. 30 from 4 – 7 PM at the funeral home.
