Feb 24, 2010

A joint effort by the Onset Bay Association and the Onset Cape Verdean Festival Association brings a heady lineup of blues royalty back to Onset on Saturday, March 13, at the Dudley L. Brown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2846.

Blues great Ricky "King" Russell and Boston's queen of the blues Toni Lynn Washington headline the performance while Wareham's own outstanding ace bluesman, Gil Correia will host and perform a set with The Bluegil Band. The shows gets underway at 8 p.m. and continues to midnight. The event will benefit both organizations as they prepare for their larger summer events. Tickets are $15. Call 508-295-7072 for information.

By combining their efforts for this evening of blues music, both the Onset Bay Association and the Onset Cape Verdean Festival Association will raise funds to assist with planning their annual festivals, the Onset Blues Festival and the Cape Verdean Festival.  Both events are held in August. Additional funds will go toward scholarships and to support community projects. Light food and refreshments will be served, and the dance floor will be open.

The Onset Bay Association is a nonprofit civic corporation representing a community that is working together to enhance the quality of life for every individual. The mission of the Onset Cape Verdean Festival Association is to promote and celebrate the origin, history and culture of people of Cape Verdean ancestry.
