Damien's Food Pantry receives Community Impact Award
Damien's Food Pantry was awarded the 2026 YMCA Southcoast Community Impact Award on Wednesday, June 17.
"This recognition means far more than an award," Executive Director Rachel Resendes wrote in a statement. "It represents what is possible when organizations come together with a shared commitment to strengthening our community."
Resendes thanked the pantry's Board of Directors, volunteers and guests. She also thanked the YMCA Southcoast for the honor of the award.
"Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community," Resendes wrote.
Damien's Food Pantry is dedicated to serving "the needs of the poor and needy" in Southeastern Massachusetts. The pantry was founded in 1992.
YMCA Southcoast is a social service organization dedicated to providing social services to "youth, families and individuals" throughout South Coast Massachusetts, according to its website. Its first branch, in Fall River, was founded in 1857.
