The purpose of ecological restoration on this site is to undo past agricultural modifications and restore the wetland complex that once occupied the site by addressing the legacy impacts of farming thatlimit natural recovery and by initiating the rejuvenation of a healthy wetland system. The project will also improve opportunities for the site to accommodate future inland native salt marsh migration via the migration of the existing downstream salt marshalong the path of the existing tidal creek (note that tidal flowis currently restricted by an agricultural berm and water control structure, as well as the approximately 4-acre stand of Phragmites australis).
