Leslie Armond Westgate Jr., 60

Leslie Armond Westgate Jr., 60 of East Wareham passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 15. He was born February 2, 1955 in Middleboro to Leslie A. Westgate and the late Shirly E. (Chace)Westgate.

He attended Taunton Vocational High School where he learned the welding trade. Les was a longtime resident of Wareham where he worked in the trucking and cranberry industry and raised his family with his wife, Ellen "Lynne" Westgate, recently deceased.

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Throughout his life, Les enjoyed raising and training hunting dogs and traveling the East Coast for field trials. He was a member of the Massachusetts State Fox Hunters Association since the 1960s and recently held the position of president. Les was a former member and secretary of the Carver Sportsmen's Club, where with his son they met friends and shared many memories. Les displayed his devotion, work ethic and heart of gold in every endeavor and relationship throughout his life. He was the beloved husband of 30 years to Lynne and devoted son, brother, father and grandfather.

Leslie is survived and loved by his father, Leslie A. Westgate and stepmother Linda (McGrath) Westgate of West Wareham; and by his siblings Gary and Linda Westgate of West Wareham and Holly Letourneau of New Bedford. He is also survived by his children Leslie A. Westgate III and Jennifer McDermott of Buzzards Bay, Jennifer Gargile of Tiverton, Lisa and Danny Laing of Marion, Holly Briggs of Dearing, Georgia and Heidi Duarte  of Wareham; his nephews Gary Westgate of West Wareham, Kristopher and Sarah Westgate of Fairhaven, and niece Audra Letourneau and Shayne Oliver of Fall River; his grandchildren Nicole and Jeremy Haynes of Wren, Georgia, Roland and Michael Canuel of Apopka, Florida, Cory, Nathan, Aiden Cabral and Bailey Gargile of Tiverton, and Jack and Michaela Doran and Ainsley Westgate of Buzzards Bay; and great grandchildren Skyler, Kenny, Tailynn and Allyanna. Leslie had many surviving extended family members near and far.

A memorial visitation and Service of Remembrance and giving thanks will be held on Saturday, March 14 at the Lakeville Church of the Nazarene, 180 Main St. Lakeville. The visitation hour will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. with the service immediately following.
