Oh shoot!
Hooping for some fun? Bounce over to the YMCA.
The Knights of Colombus annual hoot shoot free-throw competition is being held at the Gleason Family YMCA, 33 Charge Pond Road, Sunday, Jan. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The contest is open to boys and girls, ages nine to fourteen, and is divided by age and by gender. Winners of each division will move on to districts, then to regionals and beyond; winners will be informed of the date and location of the next round.
Monday, Jan. 19
A historical event
Though July 4th is months away, there's always a cause for celebration.
The Wareham Historical Society is presenting a program to celebrate America's 250th anniversary and Wareham history Monday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. Guests are invited to the Methodist Meeting House at 495 Main Street to join in on a fun and historical event.
Come and learn about the brave Wareham residents who joined in the American Revolution for freedom. There will be a Wareham history trivia game, costumes will be on display and a Wareham history timeline by the Wareham Historical Commission will be available to take home.
Admission for members are Free, non-members is $2.00.

Joyful noise
Got the itch for some live music? Then the First Congregational Church is the place to be.
Throughout the year the church hosts “Arts at the Stone Church,” a celebration of all things art. The church brings in artists utilizing different mediums for participants to broaden their artistic horizons.
The first event of the year will be a concert taking place Tuesday, Jan. 20 in the Groezinger Room at the church located at 11 Gibbs Ave. Pastor and worship leader Devlin Scott will perform.
Doors will open at 6 p.m., a free meal will be served at 6:30 and the concert will begin at 7. Parking for the event will be free and there will be an accessible entrance.
Wednesday, Jan. 21
Lets get crafty
Have a snow-ball and craft some cards. The Wareham Council on Aging will be holding a card making class Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 9:30 a.m. in room 428.
Participants will be provided with enough materials to make three or four finished cards. The event is $8 per person call 508-291-3130 to sign up.
